I know what it’s like when I’m feeling sick and I just don’t want to get out of bed. Sleep is all I can muster, but I have to look after my pets. This can be a real challenge if you’re the main or sole carer for them.
But what do our pets do for us while we’re sick?
It can be a blurry stretch for us remembering what our animals did during this period. However you may have been privy to a friend/partner and their pet’s actions.
Our pets know instantly when we’re not well, especially when we’re really under the weather. I’ve blogged a few times about energy, and how our pets respond to our varying energy states. This is no different.
The only exception is that when we’re really unwell, we are actually in the present. So there are no mixed messages with our thoughts and feelings – we feel lousy and are too tired to multi task so we’re actually in the here and the now.
We’re also very open and receptive to other energies around us, whether we realise it or not. Our pet will instantly respond to this, perhaps even before we’ve realised that they’re actually aware of our changed state.
In the home, our animals will start to energetically connect with us, because we’re completely accessible in this state. This is where our beloved pets come in and are on constant watch over us. They may not leave our side or pester us for food or attention as they know that their focus is fully on us.
Animals are natural healers!
It’s well known that having a pet can reduce stress in life, as well as assist you in living a longer and healthier life. Having a pet in our life reminds us to be present, to feel love and most importantly to remind us to smile from the heart.
Having a pet can be stressful at times (oh and I’ve definitely experienced that – even as an Animal Communicator) but again, they are a reflection of where we are at in our lives as our outer world is a reflection of our internal emotional state.
So what about when we’re sick?! Urrghh, not my favourite circumstance at all but what I do know is that when I’m in this situation, my two boys Nero and Pi are connecting with me and giving me lots of supportive energy.
Nero is constantly by my side and I can feel him sharing his energy to calm me down and check in to see if I’m OK. Pi will send me his energy and will let me know that he’s there, it’s almost like I can feel him wrapped around my neck hugging me. This is the time that they want to be there for me and I gratefully appreciate it. It’s like a mother’s touch when you were little and unwell.
Not everyone communicates in the manner I do with animals but you do communicate with your pets in your own unique way. Whether you do this through actions, watching, words, sounds or feelings – you’re communicating.
Being aware and noticing is the key. Start noticing what your pets do when you’re feeling unwell.
- Are they by your side?
- Maybe they’re sleeping a lot more than usual – this may be that they’re consciously calming the energy room.
- Do they look/check in on you more often than normal?
- If you do notice a difference in them, let them know this by a loving look, a pat or even a ‘thank you’
As there is an energy exchange, it is important to know that your animals are taking on some of your energy while simultaneously giving you a healing. So once you’re starting to feel well again – it’s good to cleanse the energy of the house, like a spring clean.
- Open windows and doors for air flow
- Burn incense/smduge or candles
- Play music that is uplifting e.g. chanting/classical
Always know that your pet is at work for you especially when you’re feeling unwell.
